I’m curious as to the reasons behind why you pick a book to read. I mean we all have very different reasons and I thought I would take the time to share with you some of my reasons and give you a giveaway to go with it. I do need to thank our hosts for this giveaway hop first though. So a huge thank you to HOP HOSTS HERE. Now that is done lets get to a few of the reason I will choose a book to read.
The Author
If the author is one of my favorites or one that read often I will most likely select their new book to read on that alone. My favorite authors are ones that I will read again and again. For example I will read a Lani Lynn Vale book without really reading the synopsis. I enjoy her and just know the book will be good.
Word of Mouth/Reviews
If I have heard other bloggers, readers, podcasts, etc discussing a book I will take a chance on it. Although that isn’t always the case. I picked up a book recently that had a cliffhanger and enjoyed it. When I went to get the next book I read horrible reviews. So I checked out the books for the rest of the series and the reviews were so awful. Like the couple doesn’t get any sort of ending but I just needed to know what happened. So I purchased the next book and guess what? Another cliffhanger!
My Mood
Sometimes I’m just in the mood for a certain genre or theme. I may be on a paranormal kick or an alien kick. When I can’t figure out what I want to read I go back to my favorites and reread them but that’s another post altogether.
The Cover
Sad as it is when I wondering around the book store the cover always catches my eye first. Humans are visual so it’s no wonder this is one of the reasons I will pick a book. I will pick up a book that has a cover model I know and follow. I like to support them and have ended up with some amazing books just because it had Tank Joey or Jake Wilson on there. It happens!
