Old and New by Lucinda Race
Series: The MacLellan Sisters Trilogy #1
Genres: Contemporary Romance
Jamie is the oldest MacLellan sister and after a box is shipped to the girls from their late grandmother they find it contains and heirloom wedding dress, the family plaid and a broach. Along with the items there is a letter than explains if an unmarried descendant of their great grandmother tries on the dress and looks into the mirror she will see her future.
Deciding one woman of this generation should try the dress on Jamie does and sees a figure of a man in the mirror.Jamie is then on the road to discover what she does want and meets Caleb, a traveling chef who she falls in love with but she refuses to ask him to give up the life he loves for her and she wouldn’t want him to ask her to give up her life to follow him.
At a cross roads she and her sisters take a sister-cation back to Scotland and the family farm.
In this first book we meet the MacLellan sisters Jamie, Kenzie, and Grace. All three seem to be happy in where they are in life and to be single. They are too independent and don’t need the heart break of a marriage. When their grandmother passes away the women receive a wedding dress. It is suppose to be enchanted and that is where the real story begins. As the oldest Jamie tries it on the dress, after all, a dress can’t help you find true love. Never mind the shadowy imagine of a man that Jamie sees.
This was such a good read. I loved the story line and the way the women interact with one another. This was the perfect start to this series. It was one of those good old-fashion (yet modern) romances that reminded me of why I fell in love with this genre to begin with.
Sometimes what we have been searching for has been right in front of us the whole time. Which is what Kenzie learns when she tried on the dress and sees none other than her friend Robbie. It takes a lot for her to admit her feelings and she almost loses him in the process. Again this was a great read! The characters are still just as wonderful and I loved that Kenzie and Robbie had been friends first. They both deserved the love they found even if it took a lot to get there.
We have come full circle! Grace is taking the dress back to Scotland after reading a letter from her Gran. Her sisters are both married and even though Grace has always secretly longed for love and marriage she’s not sure it is in her future. While in Scotland she meets Logan who she eventually sees when she tries on the dress. This was a fitting end to this sisters. I enjoyed watching Grace finding her happily ever after. Especially when out of the three she wanted it the most. Even if she held those thoughts and within her heart without telling her sisters.

This series looks and sounds awesome! I love that it all started with a dress! That would be so neat to be able to see your future like that, but scary too!

I like sets of books that focus on three different characters from different viewpoints. Isn’t it funny how three people be a part of a conversation and have three different versions of what happened.
