Review
Sheriff Marc Singer receives a surprise on his birthday, one in the form of an uninvited guest revealing herself to be his long-lost daughter. One complication he doesn’t need on top of all the others is that her mother is his ex-wife. When Jenny Tate discovers that her daughter has driven down from up north and declared Marc as her father, she returns from overseas to try and tackle this ongoing problem.
Being a widow with an intelligent child, she’s forced to face a multitude of emotions she wanted to avoid, including the paternity of her daughter and her lingering affections for Marc. Together, they traverse the path they started many moons ago, not sure if where it’ll take them.
The characters in this story were captivating–Marc and Jenny’s journeys across past and present made for splendid reading; Chloe brought plenty of teenager angst with humor; while the extended family added warmth and love as they assist these two ex-lovers reach their happy ending. It was a delightful read.
