Sugar Wood by Brynn Ford
Series: Twisted Tales #1
Genres: Dark Romance
I never imagined something so twisted and toxic could become my future, but I want it. I want every ounce of their poisonous passion.
★★★★★ "Sugar Wood isn’t your normal romance book. It’s dark, gritty, sensual in all the wrong places, and will leave you gasping." -Andrea, Goodreads Review-
I don't believe in evil or enchantments. I know better than to believe in things that don't exist. But I'm certain of the sickness of humanity and the twisted energy it leaves behind…and Sugar Wood Forest is infected with it.
My home is infected, too. The preppy college boy and his heiress stepsister I've trapped within it will feel the effects of that soon enough.
They said they were lost when they stumbled upon my cabin in the woods, but I'd seen them out there earlier trying to bury their secrets together—the same way I'd buried mine. I should've sent them away, but instead I stole them and locked them up.
And now their own wicked energy plagues me, drawing us all together with toxic desire.
These two are my secret now.
But I haven't decided yet whether they're a secret worth keeping or burying. This steamy dark romance is a twisted retelling of Hansel & Gretel which features an MMF relationship. Heed the warning—this is a dark story and parts of it may be upsetting to some readers. Please use your best judgment in deciding whether this book is for you.

Review
This book set off too many triggers for me in the first couple of pages. I did manage to get all the way through it and I will say that my issues with are just that.. my personal issues. I was excited to read this because it is a retelling of Hansel and Gretel. It was great in that aspect.
Glory is beyond broken and I could certainly identify with her is aspects. She spent years being abused and I enjoyed how she was able to find herself after that. That she found happiness. However, I couldn’t enjoy her happiness as I was still lost in the beginning of the book.
Huxley who is Glory’s step brother has always been attracted to her in a way he can’t explain and knew was wrong. He is the best part of her world once he came into it. While he wasn’t aware of the abuse going on he did protect her without always knowing he was.
When they both find themselves knocking of Ambrose’s door deep in the woods what happens was unexpected. Ambrose is trapped in Sugar Wood and there are more than a few secrets surrounding all of that.
This book has triggers and if you think you could be triggered then it may not be for you. However, it is a great read if you can get past that. Without being triggered I would have given this five stars. It is not the book or the writing but the way it left me feeling.

The title is intriguing and a Hansel and Gretel story sounds interesting too. However, this one sounds a little dark. I usually like dystopian and historal books and those can be dark too, but this one sounds a little different.
