Listen Pitch by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: There's No Crying in Baseball #3
Genres: Romantic Suspense, Sports Romance
Rhys Rivera is the star short-stop for the Longview Lumberjacks. Many know him, even more love him. He has a pretty face, a quick smile, and an air of danger about him that everyone seems to adore.
He’s not known as the bad boy of baseball for nothing.
It all started with his father, who decided to be a criminal mob boss, then die.
Fortunately for his uncle, Rhys wants absolutely nothing to do with the family business and runs before anyone can figure out which way is up.By the time his uncle, the successor to his father’s criminal empire, thinks to look for him, Rhys has made too big of a name for himself to be taken out quietly, and he wants to keep it that way.
Fast forward eight years, and Rhys is living life one breath at a time, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. That shoe coming in the form of a nosy neighbor who has no idea just how hot she is in her mail carrier uniform. Her sweet little body and positive outlook on life make him want to laugh at how naïve she is when it comes to the way of the world.
The harder he tries to stay away, the weaker he seems to get, until one day he decides to put his morals on hold long enough to satisfy his cravings.
One time is all he needs—or so he tells himself.
But then two pink lines change everything, and all of a sudden, he doesn’t have just himself to worry about anymore.

Review
There was a moment in this book where I was like NOOOOO! I couldn’t believe what I was reading but then I reminded myself that Rhys was kind of important to the story line so maybe things would be okay. I had to remind myself of that a lot. There is so much to love about this story and a lot to hate at times.
Henley Cree is a regular girl who happens to be deaf and lives next door baseball superstar, Rhys Rivera. One night a chance encounter will change their worlds forever. It also turns the pair of them into stalkers, just saying. Hiding while checking out your hot neighbor can you get arrested unless the hot neighbor is checking you out too! 😉
I loved how Henley was written! She doesn’t see herself as anything special in fact she sees herself as “defective” and can’t believe anybody would ever be interested in her. Although she doesn’t have the “woe is me” attitude, she just sees herself that way and goes on with her life. She lives with her sister and Tyler Cree (from Too Bad, Soo Sad) is her older brother.
If you think Henley’s family is colorful wait til you meet Rhys’. He has a mother who has one of the most interesting careers ever! When you read what she does for a living I want you to come back here and tell what you think. A father who was a criminal mob boss although he is dead now, and an “uncle” who now heads up that “family.” Yet, the one family member he has that made him perfect for Henley is a sister that is deaf. Growing up with her prepared him for the love of his life.
There is so much more that I could share but it would give too much away. Those two pink lines you read about in the blurb? Those are interesting and not something I saw coming. This book is full of twists and turns that will leave your jaw on the floor and you on the edge of your seat. As I have said before this was the one series of Lani Lynn Vale’s that I wasn’t sure I was going to like but with each book she has proved me wrong.
