What do you do when you are in a reading slump? You know you want to read but you just have no idea what to read? Maybe you just aren’t in the mood for more of the same old stuff that you always read. Maybe you’re ready to branch out into something new. Maybe you have no idea why you are in a slump.

The first thing you need to do is figure out why you are in a slump to begin with. that can help you get past it better than anything else. Once you know why you are in a slump you can move forward and do something about it.
An Old Favorite
Reread a favorite book. That normally works for me. Actually, I work my way back through a favorite series or two. It helps refresh me. Even when I know what is going to happen I am happy in the end because it’s like visiting old family and friends.
A New Genre
Maybe it’s time to check out a new genre. I typically read romance all the time. Every sub-genre of it and I can get burned out on it. That is why I love to throw a mystery in here and there. The mysteries help keep it fresh and new.
Browse Kindle Unlimited
This is something else that I do when I am in a slump. I spend some time on Kindle Unlimited and see if anything jumps out at me. I never borrow a book I don’t read so it helps. They always offer suggestions which is something else that I enjoy. They know what I like based on what I buy and read.
Audio Books
Sometimes I switch from reading to listening. It’s great to get a break from having to read and I love audio books. So listening to them is a great way to get me out of a slump. Usually after spending a couple of days just listening to books I ready to dive right back into reading.
Don’t Read
Take a day or two away from reading. We all need a little break from time to time. Just take a few moments to stop reading. That will allow you to recharge and maybe come back refreshed. I do this when I go on vacation sometimes. I take a few days and not read at all. I just enjoy being out and about.

I’ll take a break and work on a hobby for awhile. It doesn’t take long at all before I’m eager to read again. Television ends up boring me and I get once I get a hobby project done I’m ready for escape, which books nicely provide.
I take a break and also ask my friends and favorite authors what books they have been into lately!
A nice glass of wine and a bubble bath usually clears it up for me!
