This is the third and final book in this trilogy but it can easily be read as a standalone. It gives you enough of a background recap to know what happened previously without taking too much time or giving too much of those books away. This is my first book by both the author and in this series.

Anna has formed a budding connection with the Earl of Garvald, described in the book as a tendre. While the term feels perfectly suited to the story’s historical tone, in modern terms, it could be seen as a fondness or a mild crush. With her sisters happily settled, Anna is content to enjoy a blossoming friendship with the Earl, cherishing his company and growing closer to his mother while feeling a sense of belonging in his home.

Anna is a quieter, more introspective sister, endearing in her subtle lack of self-awareness. She finds joy in this newfound family dynamic, offering a gentle contrast to the more outwardly assertive paths her sisters have taken.

Garvald is portrayed as a warm, patient man, quietly waiting for Anna to remember the childhood bond they once shared. His tender and steady nature is both heartwarming and refreshing, making their evolving relationship a truly delightful journey to witness.
