I read my first Cora Seton book many years ago. I stumbled across her one day while I was searching for something to read. At the time I was super into military romance and when her book came up it sounded like a good read. I’m so thrilled that the Halls were the first family and series of books I came across. They were simply wonderful and led me to love not only Cora Seton but also Chance Creek.
This is the book that started it all for me. When Mason’s father died him, his mother, and brothers left their ranch in Montana and moved to Florida. The boys all go into the military and as an adult Mason learns the ranch was left to their Aunt Heloise. Heloise says she will give them the ranch if all 4 brothers would get married within the year, and one has a baby. That sets this series up nicely. It was so good.
Colt wasn’t planning on coming back to Montana. He thinks that his father died thinking the worst about him. He has to marry in order to help his brothers. However the woman he wants is the same one he walked away from years ago. This one is full of secrets and one of those conditions that Heloise set was met years ago without anyone in the family knowing.
Jake’s father is awful in this one but i love Jake and Hannah. Although Hannah is determined to leave Chance Creek. While Jake is just as determined to finally be able to run the family ranch. There is plenty of mistrust and misunderstanding to go around in this one. However, as much as I disliked Jake’s father a part of me wonders if he didn’t do what he did because he knew Hannah and Jake belonged together.
Ned, Jake’s brother, is in love with the woman who lives with. He can’t do anything about it because Fila was a captive of the Taliban for over a decade. If that isn’t drama enough, Ned’s father doesn’t like her. He sends them on a little errand out of town hoping it will cause them to split up. What he doesn’t understand is fate is about to show Fila what she’s made of. I loved this book so much. I felt for Fila and Ned. They both wanted to love another so much but neither was sure how.
