Join the Club by Lani Lynn Vale
Series: KPD SWAT Generation 2.0 #7
Genres: Romantic Suspense
There are a few lessons one has to learn for themselves. Then there are the lessons that most people don’t have to learn because it’s just not done.
For instance, most people know instinctively that they shouldn’t crave the mother of their brother’s child.
Bourne Pena isn’t most men.
Bourne does everything he can to fight the attraction he feels for Delanie, but in the end, his refusal to go there almost ends up costing him his life.
***
Delanie Davidsdottir just wanted to forget. One night, she wanted to feel like a normal human being.
That one night changes her life and gives her a son that becomes her heart and soul. From that point forward, she does her level best to keep her head on straight and not make any more mistakes.
And falling for her child’s father's twin brother—say that three times fast— would be a mistake. Not only is he Trouble with a capital T, he’s also a SWAT officer that puts his life on the line every single day.
She can’t take another loss like the one she suffered once before.
Then again, Delanie never encountered a man like Bourne Pena before, either.

Review
This is the second half of the whole Pena-Davidsdottir love story. If you read the last book you know that Booth had always liked Dillan while Bourne had always liked Delanie. The same with each of the girls. However, after a single night in high school Delanie got pregnant with Booth’s son, Asa. His birth changed everything. Bourne put his dreams on hold since Booth was already signed up for the military.
That meant Bourne was there when Booth couldn’t be. He was there for it all; doctor’s appointments, school stuff, etc. You can see why Asa is so close to Bourne. So, when he finally gets the chance to live his life for himself he takes it with both hands. There are some moments where Bourne’s place in the family is questioned but I felt he had as much right as anyone else.
Delanie for her part was just as confused as Dillan was in the last book. She wasn’t sure if it was okay to follow her heart and love her son’s uncle. She had a couple of moments where I wanted to punch her but in the end she did what was right.
I need to say that the epilogue in this book is awesome! I’m not going to go into details but as far as epilogues go, this was certainly one of the best Lani Lynn Vale has written.
